I checked in yesterday as work had booked a room for me. There are two hotels side by side. The Isa hotel and the Red Earth boutique hotel. Reception manages both. I have bursitis in my left hip and a ruptured gluteus minimus- the muscle used for walking. I was booked into a room in the Isa hotel at the far end from the elevators which involved a long walk. The alternative was still a long walk but up 2 flights of stairs. I struggle do both. I went back to reception to ask if there was a room on the ground floor or one near the elevator. Unfortunately they couldn't help. About an hour later I got a call from reception saying if we could stay in the booked room last night they could give me a room tomorrow that was next to the elevator. Next morning I got a call at about 8.45am to say my room was ready. What they had given me was a beautiful luxury room with a balcony, queen size bed, sofa and a desk. A total change from the small dingy room I originally had. I was so touched and pleased by the effort the girls went to to ensure my comfort. Not only giving me a room close to the elevator but such a beautiful room. 10 stars for the lovely girls at reception. I've never known any hotel staff go so far above and beyond for a customer.

On arrival I was advised the room I had been allocated (a Queen Deluxe) was unavailable due to a faulty door and I would instead be in a Queen single room with no window. I was staying 3 nights for work and advised I was not happy with this change. Within 20 minutes I got a call from reception saying the door was now fixed and my room was available to check in. As is the experience with other reviewers, despite booking Red Earth, I actually got a room over The Isa Hotel. The room rates are the same, but from what I can tell, the Isa rooms are much older and poorly maintained compared to the Red Earth rooms. If you're basing your booking on the photos, be aware that you might end up in a room that does not look like this. The room was pretty average - There was a large section of paint peeling from the ceiling, the windows were covered in grime, the carpet is visibly dirty, and... there were bed bugs. Just stay somewhere else.

Be very careful as the hotel has two very different types of rooms - those in the Isa Hotel part and those in the Red Earth. Most rooms in the Isa have no windows and lighting that is derived from the 1970s (an orange hue). The rooms in the Red Earth whilst very dated were acceptable. My room was like a prison cell accordingly and for $200 pn was worth less than $40 in a backpacker style. In a nutshell when we complained myself and two colleagues were forcibly evicted! DO NOT STAY HERE.

Its called a boutique hotel, I am not too sure why, all round pretty average. Rooms, well appointed, but the curtain was torn with wear as was one of the towels. All very clean. We stayed Saturday evening, they had large groups in the bar area, therefor you have the benefit of loud noise for a good part of the evening. all up, nothing special.

Our room was good. The food service was slow to non existent. The meals were huge ans our group left half of some meals. Bar service was non existent unless meals were being served. The staff were sometimes friendly but very inexperienced.
